WPTA Award News Release

Two Clinicians from Spinal Dynamics of Wisconsin Recognized with Awards from Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association

Wauwatosa, WI, April, 14 2008 . . .  Two physical therapists from Spinal Dynamics of Wisconsin, one of southeastern Wisconsin’s only independent spine-dedicated physical therapy clinics, will be honored this week as recipients of 2008 awards from the Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association (WPTA.)

Ann Brophy, PT, a Wauwatosa resident, is being honored with the WPTA Hall of Fame Award.  This award recognizes individuals who have made lifelong contributions to the physical therapy profession as a member of the WPTA.

Brophy, a spine-specialized therapist, is a 1975 graduate of Marquette University’s physical therapy program and has special interests in fibromyalgia, injuries in performing artists (specifically dancers,) and spinal rehabilitation for Parkinson patients.  She is a co-founder of the former Competitive Edge Sports Medicine Clinics, a Tai Chi instructor, and an anatomy lab instructor for Marquette’s University’s biomedical sciences program.

John Hojnacki, DPT, a Big Bend resident, is being recognized as the WPTA Physical Therapist of the Year.  Based on nomination by patient or family member, this award pays tribute to a therapist who’s made a significant difference in someone’s life.  Only one therapist is chosen as PT of the Year from nearly 100 nominations submitted annually.

Hojnacki received his bachelor of science in physical therapy from UW-Madison and recently completed his doctorate in physical therapy at Concordia University.  Beyond his spine care specialty, Hojnacki has specific interests in weight training, nutrition, throwing and golf mechanics, and has recently served as a sports evaluation consultant to the Marquette University Men’s Basketball team.

Brophy and Hojnacki will receive their awards during a banquet on Friday, April 18, 2008 in conjunction with the 2008 WPTA Spring Conference at the Stevens Point Ramada.

“I join together with the entire team at Spinal and Body Dynamics in congratulating Ann and John,” says Cindy Marti, PT, clinic president.  “We are extremely proud of Ann and John for their dedication to excellence in patient care and numerous accomplishments in practicing physical therapy.”

A chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association, the WPTA is a professional membership association serving physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and physical therapy students.  The organization has membership of approximately 1900 individuals.
